Arrg… Does anyone know what the word diet means? It means the usual food a person or animal consumes. Like a ducks diet is fish. I learned this in my 7th grad health class.

I like the definition of diet as “food and drink regularly provided or consumed” (from Merriam-Webster). Keyword being “regularly”. Meaning this isn’t a special occasion or for a special reason. This is what you would do normally. Some people associate diet with weight loss, but I think people should associate diet with health as in having food discipline.

Most people refer to the word diet as a weight loss program, but, a diet is what you consume, be it healthy or unhealthy. What people should be aiming for is a healthy, balanced “diet”. People who cut carb intake and exercise more to lose weight will actually be burning protein before fat if they aren’t getting enough fuel from carbs. A balanced “diet should consist of the following; carbohydrate 50-55%, fat 30-35%, protein 10-15% daily intake. Fat=essential fatty acids.

I totally agree. I hate the word diet because its so contrary to what it really takes to lose weight and KEEP IT OFF. Eating sensibly means eating to live, not living to eat. Great vid! I’m halfway through my first round of Insanity and my life has changed!

I watched that episode yesterday as well. A healthier eating habit should be a way of life, not a means of weights loss.
